Antitrust Compliance in Latin America

The Ethics and Compliance Committee of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association, together with CeCo, conducted the first Latin American study on the perception of practicing lawyers and antitrust authorities regarding compliance in antitrust matters.
The study is a first approach to understand the level of development, seriousness and effectiveness of compliance programs in Latin America, as well as the existence and scope of regulations on this matter.
The information was collected from a survey answered by prominent lawyers in seven jurisdictions in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru) and from one-on-one interviews with a lawyer and a competition authority of each country.

El Comité de Ética y Cumplimiento de la Sección de Antitrust de la American Bar Association en conjunto con CeCo realizaron el primer estudio latinoamericano sobre la percepción de abogados practicantes y autoridades de competencia sobre compliance en materia de competencia.
El estudio es un primer acercamiento para entender el nivel de desarrollo, seriedad y efectividad de los programas de cumplimiento en Latinoamérica, así como la existencia y alcance de la regulación existente en esta materia.
La información se recopiló a partir de una encuesta realizada a los abogados más destacados de siete jurisdicciones de América Latina (Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, México y Perú) y de entrevistas realizadas a un abogado y una autoridad de competencia por cada país.
